The water-level in Mahakali River has increased significantly due to incessant rainfall.
District Administration Office of Darchula has sent out a warning for all to remain alert citing the rise in associated risks owing to swelling of Mahakali.
Water flow in Mahakali river had reached 5.80 meters this morning, informed Dattu-based Police Post. Water levels in some other smaller rivers in the districts have also increased with the continuous rainfall. police added.
Chief District Officer Siddharaj Joshi said that there the areas surrounding the river face threat of disasters with the rise in water levels.
The administration has urged Darchula denizens to adopt precautions and stay alert as possibility of floods remain at large in river embankments.
Swollen Mahakali river had caused great damaged in and around district headquarters, sweeping dozens of houses and eroding hundreds of hectares of land.
Almost all places of the country have been experiencing incessant rainfall for the past few days with the onset of monsoon.
Meanwhile, rural roads of the district including Khar-Khalanga road, Khalanga-Tinkar road, and Bitule-Paribagad road were obstructed following landslips across various road sections.
Movement of vehicles along Khalanga-Khar area has been affected and locals have been facing issues to take their produce to market following the road obstruction.
