KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 19

A westerly low-pressure system is influencing weather conditions across Nepal, bringing generally cloudy skies to the hilly and Himalayan regions and the possibility of light rain and snowfall in several provinces.

According to Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, light rain or snowfall is likely at a few places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Isolated precipitation is also possible in other hilly and Himalayan areas. Morning fog or mist is expected at a few places in the Terai.

Tonight, the Himalayan region will remain generally cloudy, while partly cloudy conditions are forecast for the Terai of Koshi and Bagmati provinces and the hilly region of Madhesh Province. The remaining Terai areas are expected to remain mainly fair. Isolated light rain or snowfall may occur in the high hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, according to the DHM.

In Jumla, light rainfall or snowfall is likely during the day, with temperatures ranging between 17°C and 19°C and a 40 per cent chance of precipitation. Night temperatures are expected to drop to between -1°C and 1°C under generally cloudy skies. Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley is forecast to remain generally cloudy throughout the day, with maximum temperatures between 20°C and 22°C and minimum temperatures between 9°C and 11°C at night.
