Soul of a model

With her determination and confidence to be a top model, Aruni Waiba is constantly growing in the fashion world. She talks about her struggle, her dreams and aspirations with TGIF:

  Who is Aruni?

Aruni's journey in the modelling industry began when she participated in Miss Mongol 2013 and grabbed the title of Best Hair. She has walked on many ramp shows inside and outside the valley.

How did you turn your dreams into reality?

I had to struggle a lot to turn my dreams into reality as my parents were against my choice of profession as a model. For a while I had to take a break because of their restriction. After almost two years I am back into this field and will continue to be here.

How did your family react to your choice of profession?

They never allowed me to go outside or do any photo shoots. They took everything negatively when it came to modeling. However, after two years, I have finally convinced them about my work and passion to become a model.

Do you agree with the statement that — “Models have a very short career span”?

Sadly, yes. I wouldn’t say very short, but the period is relatively shorter. There are models who have managed to make it quite big and for a quite substantial number of years. But in general, models tend to have a relatively short career period.

You are currently involved with…

Currently I am running my own modelling agency and providing platform to the upcoming models.

What’s one of the most interesting shoots that you’ve done? And your best experience you had while walking on ramps.

It was for one of my video cover on ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ title track. The song and the time we spent while shooting itself was interesting for me. All fashion shows I have done have been memorable for me.

A lot of people imagine supermodels as overnight-success stories. What is your take on it?

There are many models that run after success and look for short cut to success. I want to climb the ladder slowly with hard work and go with the flow.

Getting personal

Fashion to you is: My life, passion and thirst.

Where do you spend most of your time when you're not working?

Although not a perfect singer, I spend my time singing and playing with my niece.

What do you value the most in your life today?

I cannot imagine my life without my career. So I value it highly.
