KATHMANDU, MAY 22

Minister for Health and Food Safety Nisha Mehta held talks with World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in Geneva, Switzerland, during the 79th World Health Assembly.

According to the Ministry of Health and Food Safety, the WHO chief reiterated the organization's readiness to cooperate with Nepal and provide necessary support to the country's health sector.

Assistant Spokesperson Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari said the meeting was productive and focused on strengthening collaboration between Nepal and the WHO.

During her visit, Minister Mehta also held separate meetings with China's National Health Commission Minister Lei Haichao and India's Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda.

Minister Mehta is leading a three-member Nepali delegation to the 79th World Health Assembly being held in Geneva from May 18 to 23.
