The newly appointed Minister for Health and Population, as well as Water Supply, Nisha Mehta, assumed office today.
After taking the oath of office and secrecy at a special ceremony held at the President's Office, Sheetal Niwas, she reached the Ministry at Singha Durbar and formally assumed her responsibilities.
The newly appointed minister was warmly welcomed by ministry officials and staff. A professionally trained nurse, Mehta has been associated with the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) since its establishment.
She was elected to the House of Representatives as a proportional representation member from the Madhesi cluster under the RSP. Mehta, 38, hails from Inaruwa, Sunsari, and holds a postgraduate degree in nursing from India.
