KATHMANDU: A person died after the motorcycle he was riding on was struck by a vehicle carrying tourist in Dilli Bazaar of Kathmandu district on Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Thapa of Pokhara in Kaski district.

The incident occurred when the tourist vehicle (Ba 1 Pa 1307) struck the motorcycle (Ba 86 Pa 905) at the Dilli Bazaar last night, critically injuring Thapa, informed police.

According to  police, Thapa breathed his last on the way to the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuwan University Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

It has been learned that Thapa, a student, was staying at the Baneshwor-based Kanyam Boys Hostel in Kathmandu.

Meanwhile, Metropolitan Police Circle, Kamalpokhari, has impounded the tourist vehicle and detained its driver for further investigation, said police.
