KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 17
A total of 10 writ petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court against the government's decision to ban TikTok in Nepal.
The Council of Ministers, in a meeting on November 13, decided to ban the video-sharing platform in Nepal.
According to Govinda Ghimire, Deputy Spokesperson at the Supreme Court, the petitioners, in their writs, have demanded the rescinding of the decision to ban TikTok.
Deputy Spokesperson Ghimire shared that the hearing on the writ petitions is scheduled for November 21. Since the decision, almost all internet service providers in the country have ceased running TikTok.
The writ petitions arose in the wake of the ban on the popular app, TikTok.
The ban was enforced, citing disturbances in social harmony, numerous cases against public decency, and a lack of cooperation from TikTok Company in the process of minimizing crime and prosecuting criminals, among other reasons."
