11 vehicles with fake registration seized

KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) seized 11 vehicles with similar registration number plates last week. The vehicles were freely plying about the streets in the Valley.

DIG Binod Singh told The Himalayan Times that vehicles of various brands were not imported but still plying on the streets with fake number plates.

According to him, the numbers were registered at the Department of Transport Management, but with different vehicles and in different owner's name. Some vehicles had different engine number than mentioned in the documents, he added. Last night, the police seized two cars with the same registration number, said DIG Singh.

The drivers and the vehicles have been sent to the police and customs department respectively for investigation.

Singh, meanwhile, lauded the traffic police for curbing crimes. He, however, said that more needs to be done to stop the crime on the road in the face of import of two wheelers.
