11,000 hydrocele patients to receive free surgery
KATHMANDU: The Department of Health Services (DoHA) under the Ministry of Health was going to provide free surgery treatment to as many as 11,000 hydrocele patients.
Around 100,000 hydrocele patients are estimated in the country.
Hydrocele is a condition in men often consisting of a collection of fluids in thin walled sac outside the testicle.
The free surgery will be operated from the public health facilities across the country, according to DoHS Director Dr Baburam Marasini.
The free health service is provided after the sudden rise in the number of hydrocele patients due to elephantiasis.
"So far 2,500 such patients have availed free surgery," shared Dr Marasini.
