Seven days have passed and 12-year-old Seti Baramse is missing from Kathmandu Metropolitan City–7. Baramse was a domestic help in the house of Sunil Basnet for the last eight years. Baramse, who hails from Ghumi village of Gorkha district, vanished last Saturday

afternoon. “We have been searching for her for the last seven days but to no avail,” Basnet said. “The girl was a normal kind of person and had never evinced any wild behaviour.”

“She was alone in the house on Saturday when I went out for about two hours. When I returned, I didn’t find her,” he added. Police said they have no clue to her whereabouts.

The Kathmandu District Police Office (KDPO), Hanumadhoka, has asked all police offices in the Valley and also district police offices in the country to search for the girl. “We are worried because the kidnapping of housemaids has increased in Kathmandu,” Ganesh KC, deputy superintendent of police at KDPO, said.
