17 arrested for illegal gambling from Suryabinayak

BHAKTAPUR: As many as 17 persons were arrested on the charge of illegal gambling from two locations of Suryabinayak Municipality in Bhaktapur district on Saturday.

The Metropolitan Police Circle, Bhaktapur has arrested six persons from an under-construction house next to the land revenue office in Suryabinayak Municipality-9.

Police identified the arrestees as Arjun Duwal (57) of Banepa Municipality, and Chitra Bahadur Tamang (35) of Timal Rural Municipality, both in Kavre district; Hari Bahadur Thapa (60), Rabindra Shakhakarmi (41) and Kedar Shakhakarmi (41), all three of Changunarayan Municipality-9, and Baldev Ghorasaini (55) of Sudal, Changunarayan Municipality-8, according to DSP at the Circle Rewati Raman Pokharel.

Police also confiscated Rs 86,720 cash and nine decks of cards from the gambling site.

Likewise, 11 others were arrested from a house in Suryabinayak Municipality- 8 while gambling.

Police arrested the house owner Bishnu Swanepa (45) of Suryabinayak Municipality-1, Bishal Tamang (33) of Suryabinayak-8 in Bhaktapur district, Narbhan Tamang (30) of Ramechhap district, Bhoj Tamang (45), Nishan Lama (23), Surya Lama (37), Indra Lama (33), Akrosh Tamang (26), all residents of Roshi Rural Municipality-9, Amrit Lama (34) of Namobuddha Municipality-9, Anis Lama (39) of Mangaltar, Yogendra Lama (27) of Timal Rural Municipality-7, all in Kavre district.

Police seized Rs 84,925 cash and 21 decks of cards from the site.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
