Pillion rider killed after tanker hits scooter in Jorpati

KATHMANDU: A teenage girl was killed after a water tanker hit the scooter that she was pillion riding in Jorpati, on the outskirts of Kathmandu, on Thursday morning.

The tanker with registration number Ba 1 Kha 8900 had hit the two-wheeler with registration number Ba 7 Pa 8225, killing the pillion rider, identifed as 15-year-old Karunu Majhi, on the spot, police said.

Rider Kisan Kumar Lama, however, was left unhurt in the incident.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the girl was trampled by the rare wheel of the tanker but the driver intentionally backed the vehicle to kill her, according to police.

Majhi is said to be a domestic maid of Lama.
