2 held with stolen vehicles

Kathamndu, January 7:

Police team from the Valley Crime Investigation Branch (VCIB), Hanumandhoka has arrested two persons and seized seven stolen vehicles from them.

According to the Valley Crime Investigation Branch, Mallin kumar Shrestha, owner of a garage at Sinamangal and Ramindra Karki have been arrested on the theft charge. Shrestha is a resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City whereas Karki hails from Sindhupalchowk district. Police said they were involved in stealing and selling vehicles after changing chassis number and number plate of the vehicles.

Acting upon a tip-off, police arrested them from the garage when they were changing the chassis number. Police seized one Maturi car and six motorcycles, which the duo had prepared to sell.

In another case, police team from the Valley Crime Investigation Branch arrested three persons on charge of stealing property from the house of Ram Prit Khadka at Sanepa of Lalitpur district.

Police said Arjun Timalsina of Rautahat, Jeevan Thikdel of Makawanpur and Arjun Samsung of Rautahat were arrested from a restaurant at Koteshwor.

Police recovered Rs 35,000 in cash and two gold rings from their rooms at Koteshwor. Property worth Rs 7 lakh was reported to have been stolen from the house of Khadka about one month ago.

According to the police, the trio had stolen the property when the residents were away.
