2 Indian scrap collectors nabbed for housebreaking in Dallu

KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) today made public two Indian nationals who were arrested red-handed breaking in a house and stealing properties, in Dallu Residential Area, KMC-15 on Friday.

The alleged burglars have been identified as Karan Podar (19) of Gumtithan, Motipur in Mothihari, East Champaran district and Suraj Podar (17) of Mahadilgarthana, Bingama in Samastipur district, both in the Indian state of Bihar. The duo had currently been residing in Sabalbahal, Teku of KMC-12.

Acting on a tip-off, a patrol team deployed from the MPCD nabbed the Podar duo while they were about to make off with property worth around Rs 3,133,120 including various gold and silver jewellery, and cash from the unattended house belonging to Soni Shrestha. The duo had broken the padlock to enter the house, said police.

Police have revealed that they were seeking out various gangs of Indian nationals recently involved in housebreaking under the guises of scrap collectors in the Valley.

The arrested have been sent to Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range for necessary actions while the investigation into their connections with other housebreakings are underway, police said.
