21 locations in valley in need of overhead bridges
KATHMANDU: The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division has identified 21 locations in the Kathmandu Valley which need overhead bridges for the convenience of pedestrians and to reduce traffic jam.
The most crowded areas in the Valley including Putalisadak, Maitighar, Babarmahal, Baneshwor, Min Bhawan, Koteshwor, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) gate, Thapahali, Kesharmahal, Sorhakhutte Galkhopakha, Patan, Boudha and Satodobato, among others- are in the need of overhead bridges, as identified by the Division.
Traffic police are facing difficulty to manage the traffic in absence of alternative route for pedestrians in these areas, informed the Division Spokesperson Lokendra Malla.
Currently, there are 22 overhead bridges and sub-ways in the Valley accommodating the pedestrians.
