KATHMANDU, APRIL 5

The Nepal Police has arrested 226 individuals over four days as part of a nationwide crackdown on illegal activities, including hooliganism, illegal brokering and indecent behaviour.

Police Spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Abi Narayan Kafle, said the arrests were made under a campaign launched on April 1, with legal action initiated against those detained.

According to Police Headquarters, 113 individuals were arrested between April 1 and 3, including 51 from Kathmandu Valley, 19 from Koshi, 23 from Bagmati, seven from Madhesh, two from Gandaki and 11 from Karnali provinces. On April 4 alone, 113 more were held, including 62 from Kathmandu Valley, along with arrests from Madhesh, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim.

Police said the campaign will continue in the coming days.
