23-yr-old plans nationwide cycle tour for peace

Coinciding with the birth anniversary of Lord Gautam Buddha, 23-year-old Narayan Regmi, a student of Valmiki Vidhyapith, Kathmandu, will be going on a nationwide cycle tour from May 23 for peace and democracy. Starting his ‘Mechi-Kali Cycle Tour’ from Kodari Bhanjyang on the Nepal-China border in Sindhupalchowk district, Regmi is planning to cycle through 40 districts in 100 days. The tour will take him to the borders of Nepal on all four directions. He will end his tour at the Pashupatinath Temple. “My tour is basically aimed at spreading the message of peace,” Regmi, who originally hails from Tanahu, told reporters at a press meet organised today by the Education Journalists’ Group today.

He also said that he had been working towards establishing peace, development and democracy for Nepalis. During his tour, Regmi plans to visit various places of historical, religious, natural, social and cultural significance, take photographs of the places and exhibit those. While on tour, Regmi also plans to conduct surveys, collect people’s opinions about the ongoing conflict, what can be done to resolve it and how peace and democracy can be restored. Regmi hopes to publish a collection of his experiences on the road and interactions with people after he completes his tour for peace.
