Police complete investigation into September looting and destruction in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 25

Nepal Police have arrested 267 individuals for their alleged involvement in looting, vandalism and arson during the Gen-Z protests on September 8 and 9 in Kathmandu district.

The District Police Range, Kathmandu, received 154 complaints relating to vandalism and arson. Police said investigations are ongoing for 113 people, while 33 individuals were released on bail and 43 sent to judicial custody.

Of the registered cases, 22 involved individual incidents of arson, vandalism and criminal offences.

Sixty-six cases concerned arson and vandalism of government offices and property, while 16 cases involved damage to business enterprises, the Supreme Court and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority.
