3 abductees set free

KATHMANDU: Police on Friday solved a mystery in connection with an abduction bid on three persons. A gang had abducted and taken hostage, Rajendra Gurung, 30, Gopi Dhungana,19, and Deepak Kumar Khadka ,30, all hailing from Dhapasi, Kathmandu on December 11.

The victims were associated with Abroad Study Link Consultancy in the capital. Acting on a tip-off, a special squad dispatched from Metropolitan Police Range Hanumandhoka freed them from the grip of abductors. SP Ganesh KC, in-charge, MPR, said that it was a breakthrough in the case. "An alleged abductor, who identified himself as Arju Chhetri, from Panauti Municipality- 8 was Bhogendra Humagain from Shyampati- 2, Kavre in reality," said KC. Bhogendra was also involved in a shoot-out case earlier and had been at large since September 10. The police had arrested Humagain along with Raj Lama, 25, hailing from Namobuddha VDC of Kavre and Sujan Bhujel from Kerakha- 6 of Jhapa with a pistol.
