3 held in dance restaurant raid

Kathmandu, December 1:

A police team from the Metropolitan Police Sector, Sorakhutte, raided the Peace Show Girl Restaurant at Nayabazaar last night and arrested three persons on the charge of performing indecent dance.

According to inspector Tapan Dahal, the raid was carried out after receiving a number of complaints from the general public that the dance restaurant has been engaged in indecent acts.

“Though we take all staffers and customers of the restaurant into custody last night, we freed customers and those staffers who were not directly engaged in indecent acts,” Dahal said.

The police are preparing to file charges against two dancers and restaurant owner Shushma Shrestha, Dahal added.

Dahal said the police would continue to keep a vigil at such restaurants as part of a drive to avoid such kind of social evils.
