KATHMANDU, MAY 12

Kathmandu valley witnessed as many as 3,924 fresh coronavirus infections on Wednesday.

The capital city recorded 3,250 cases while the adjoining districts Lalitpur and Bhaktapur logged 448 and 226 cases respectively today.

The cases in the valley recorded today accounts for 42.48 per cent of the nationwide infections. As many as 9,238 intra-day cases were recorded today across the country.

Kathmandu continues to be the district with highest number of infections regustered in 24 hours. Similarly, Rupandehi is second in line with 771 infections, while Lalitpur stands third.

Total number of active cases in Kathmandu is 30,588 as of today, which in Lalitpur is 6,716, and in Bhaktapur is 4,614. Kathmandu has recorded 153,800 total infections until today. The same in Lalitpur is 25,846 and in Bhaktapur is 15,220.

As many as 59 Covid-relataed deaths were logged in the valley wherein Kathmandu district recorded 47 deaths in last 24 hours while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur recorded seven and five deaths respectively. The total number of deaths registered in Kathmandu till date is 960, that in Lalitpur is 260, and in Bhaktapur is 193.

The country itself recorded a total of 168 Covid-related fatalities today, which totals to 4,252 deaths from the contagion in the country. The death rate (total deaths by total positive cases) has increased to 1.00%.

As many as 31 districts host active cases above 500 -- Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Rautahat, Dhanusha, Parsa, Mahottari, Bara, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Kavrepanlanchowk, Makawanpur, Dhading, Nuwakot, Kaski, Gorkha, Nawalparasi (East), Dang, Banke, Rupandehi, Palpa, Bardiya, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi (West), Surkhet, Kailali, Kanchanur, Baitadi and Achham.

Likewise, 18 districts have over 200 active cases. They are Sarlahi, Siraha, Saptari, Sindhupalchowk, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Parbat, Tanahun, Myagdi, Syangja, Lamjung, Baglung, Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Dailekh, Dadheldhura, Dolakha and Doti.

Ministry reports there is no district with zero cases inthe country.
