4 Bir Hospital staff held for forgery

KATHMANDU: Police said they arrested four staff of the Bir Hospital for their alleged involvement in producing forged documents to release a rape convict from the jail.

A team deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police arrested, on different dates from different places, Laxman Prasad Aryal (57), Secretary of the Bir Hospital Service Commission; Krishna Prasad Timalsina (46), Rediographer; Rajesh Kumar Karki (50), an official of the Emergency Nurse Aid; and Kedar Nath Parajuli (62), another official of the Emergency Nurse Aid.

The four on June 19, 2013, had produced fake reports of appendicitis surgery at the Hospital for Uddhav Prasad Nepal, who was convicted of rape by the Sindhupalchok District Court, and submitted the papers at the Patan Appellate Court, according to police.

Meanwhile, police filed a government seal and stamp forgery case against them at the Kathmandu District Court.

Further investigation is underway.
