Over 4.5 lakh people leave Kathmandu in two days

KATHMANDU: More than 450,000 people have left Kathmandu for their homes to celebrate Dashain festival, in the span of two days.

Spokesperson at the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rabi Raj Poudel said that 1,656,000 people have departed the capital city since September 22.

Security arrangement in Kathmandu valley, Nagdhunga and other places have been heightened. The vehicles are operating in a queue as people have crowded roads and some trade areas," SP Poudel said.

More than 1,000 traffic police personnel have been mobilised in the capital while traffic police at Nagdhunga are on stand-by, he added.
