48-hour sit-in concludes

KATHMANDU: As the clock struck eight this morning, Civic Movement for Democracy and Peace (CMDP) announced the conclusion of its 48-hour sit-in protest in front of the western gate of the Constituent Assembly building. Part of its 'Civic Satyagraha', the sit-in protest was a wake-up call for the government to write the constitution on the stipulated time frame and as per the mandate of Janan dolan- II. In a bid to pressurise the political parties to come up with the new constitution by May 28 deadline, civil society activists started the marathon sit-in protest on Thursday .
