6 held for swindling millions of rupees in pretext of job assurance in embassies

KATHMANDU: The Metropolitan Crime Division on Sunday has said that six persons were held on charge of swindling millions of rupees in pretext of assuring job aspirants at various embassies in Kathmandu.

Issuing a press statement today, MCD said all the fugitives were apprehended from assorted locations in Kathmandu Valley yesterday.

The suspects Ramananda Naunia (41) of Saptari district, Santosh Karki (28), Vinod Karki (30) of Dolakha district, Padam Bahadur Shrestha (41) of Kavre district, Chitra Bahadur Shrestha (29) of Ramachapp district and Gita Maharjan (32) of Kathmandu district collected Rs 3,00,000 to 5,00,000 from at least 60 gullible targets, as stated in the statement.

The swindlers were presented before the Kathmandu District Court and remanded in custody for 7 days.

MCD has sent the suspects to the Teku-based Metropolitan Police Range for further investigation and action today itself as mentioned in the statement.
