KATHMANDU: The 7 Summits Foundation has offered an insurance package to the workers at Royal Nepal Golf Club amidst an event in Kathmandu.
"We are thrilled to officially handover an incredible insurance package to our dedicated Caddies and hardworking staff members at the RNGC," 7SF's Chairman AC Sherpa announced.
RNGC, Nepal's first golf course, has been serving the community since 1917, and we owe a huge debt of gratitude to our 54 caddies, 14 restaurant/support staff, and 22 course maintenance staff.
All staff have been working tirelessly without the security of a fixed salary, solely relying on the queue system for their income.
"Each staff member will now be covered by a life insurance policy of Rs 10 lakhs and a medical insurance policy of 1 lakh," Sherpa said.
"This insurance will be renewed by the 7 Summits Foundation for the next five years, ensuring the well-being and financial security of our amazing team," Sherpa announced.
According to him, the insurance scheme managed by IGI Prudential Insurance Ltd, has been designed and initiated by Amalia Sherpa from Seattle, USA.
During the handover ceremony, Chairman AC Sherpa also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Amalia Sherpa from the USA for her generous support in this noble cause. "Amalia has visited Nepal multiples times and continues to be passionate about making a positive impact through social work," he added. To match Amalia's incredible contribution, the 7 Summits Foundation has also stepped up and pledged its support.
7SF's Chief Advisor Shyam Tamang explained the ins and outs of the insurance system and delivered a motivational speech to encourage them to strive for more income and focus on their mental well-being.
RNGC Caddies and staffs also extended a heartfelt thank to Chairman Sherpa, Chief Adviser Tamang and RNGC Lady Captain Arshiya Banu for their generous support.
Earlier, marking its 12th anniversary amidst a function in Kathmandu, the foundation named amateur golfer Subash Tamang as the hero of 7 Summits Foundation. Subash has received Rs 1 Lakh for his future endeavours.
