Absconding foreign employment fraud convict nabbed
KATHMANDU: An absconding foreign employment fraud convict has been nabbed by police on Friday.
The 44-year-old Krishna Prasad Kandel of Baglung, currently residing in Gongabu, was arrested from Naya Bus Park area of Gongabu by a team deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police.
The Foreign Employment Tribunal on July 3, 2016 had convicted him of fraud and sentenced to jail for three years. He was also fined Rs 300,000.
Kandel, however, was absconding and consequently, execution of the sentences was pending.
Baburam Kharel had lodged a complaint against the fraud who had promised him a good job in an international cruise ship in the Netherlands without work permit.
Then, he had sent the victim to Bangkok on March 2, 2011 before going out of contact.
According to police, Kandel had swindled the work aspirants of Rs 1.3 million before going out of the contact.
Meanwhile, police presented the convict at the Lalitpur District Court for execution of the sentence today itself.
The Court has sent him to the Central Jail, Sundhara.
