Absconding hashish smuggler nabbed

KATHMANDU: Police said they arrested a person for his alleged involvement in smuggling of hashish to India from Kathmandu.

Santa Bahadur Tamang (33), a permanent resident of Bungtang-9 of Nuwakot district, currently residing in Budhanilakantha Municipality of Kathmandu district, was involved in drug smuggling for a long, police said.

Tamang was nabbed by a team deployed from the Narcotics Control Bureau from Ananmnagar of Kathmandu on Tuesday.

Earlier on August 25 last year, police had arrested Sub Bahadur Tamang aka Ashok from the Tribhuvan International Airport in possession of 5.5 kg hashish.

He was sending the contraband to India on a Jet Airways flight, according to police.

During interrogation, Sub Bahadur had informed police that Santa Bahadur had sent the hashish with him.

On the next day, Indian police had seized 5.6 kg hashish from New Delhi allegedly smuggled by the same person.

Police are still looking into the case.
