KATHMANDU: The Crime Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police has arrested the absconding murder convict Bal Krishna Dhungel from his rented room in Satdobato of Lalitpur district at 11:00 this morning.

The CPN Maoist Centre leader was convicted of the murder of Ujjan Kumar Shrestha, a resident of his home district, Okhaldhunga.

The apex court had issued an order in the name of the Nepal Police  Inspector General to arrest Dhungel after finding that he was walking free and making contemptuous statements against the judiciary.

Dhungel was sentenced life imprisonment with property seizure by the Supreme Court.

The police have presented him before Kathmandu District Court amid tight security today itself.

It has been learned that he will be sent to the Dillibazar-based prison.
