Academy rejects govt grant

Kathmandu, March 12:

Gajendra Narayan Singh Academy today rejected the grant distributed by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation under the National Talent Memorial Fund.

Issuing a press release, the academy flayed the government’s decision to provide the grant to only seven Madhesi organisations when there are 142 social organisations that received the grant. “The government’s decision to provide Madhesi organisations with cash Rs 335,000 out of the total amount of around Rs 5 million is the disrespect to the Madhesi people. Such a biased approach is objectionable to the GNSA,” the release stated.

The GNSA also accused the government of not changing its attitude towards the madhesi people even after recent Madhesi Andolan.

The academy today presented a memorandum to Pradip Gyawali, Minister for the Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, flaying the discriminatory fund.
