Action Aid chief executive meets Deuba
The government and Action Aid (AD) can work together to eradicate poverty in Nepal said its chief executive, Salil Shetty in his meeting with prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday.
“As the mission of AD is to eradicate poverty from the third world and the government too is committed to the mission, there is a lot that can be done together,” said Shetty.
AD is contributing towards policy forming at the national level - Dalit Bill, Women Rights Bill and gender mainstreaming Action Plan amongst other will be included in the 10the Five-Year Development Plan, briefed Dr Shibesh Chandra Regmi to Deuba.
According to a press release issued by the AD Nepal, Deuba committing to support the organisation, expressed satisfaction over AD’ achievements. AD Nepal has been operating in Nepal since 1982 in the area of poverty eradication at grassroots levels. It operates in 25 districts of the country.
AD was founded in UK in 1972 and it is UK’s one of the largest development organisations. It currently operates in 40 countries around the world. AD Nepal is a part of AD Alliance that includes AD-UK, Ireland, USA among others, which support AD programme globally, adds the release.
