Will address your demands as far as possible, PM assures Dr Govinda KC

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said he would try to address demands raised by Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital's orthopaedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC.

Responding to a delegation led by Dr KC at the PM's residence in Baluwatar today, Dahal said, "I quite rightly understand demands raised by you and their language. I will try to address as far as possible."

"It is my belief that the state should take the responsibility of basic needs including education and health," he maintained, "But, addressing all these within the current political culture, administrative mechanism and policies and rules is difficult."

Speaking with the PM, Dr KC, who had staged as many as eight fast-unto-deaths demands reforms in Nepal medical education sector, said he broke the last fast upon a request of PM Dahal and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

He said his protest would continue till all demands were met.
