KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court today ordered the authorities to form a panel for the conservation of the endangered one-horned rhinos in a sustainable manner.

A division bench of Justices Kalyan Shrestha and Bharat Raj Upreti issued the order, following today’s hearing. The bench was responding to a PIL, lodged by Pro Public.

The bench also told the authorities concerned to include experts from the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, Ministry of Defence, and representatives of Pro Public in the panel.

The panel has three months to study and recommend measures for the protection of the endangered species.
