Garden inaugurated
Kathmandu: General secretary of the CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal today inaugurated the Manmohan Adhikari Memorial Garden on the eastern bank of the Bagmati River at Sanepa. He also unveiled a statute of the late UML chairman and former prime minister at a function organised by the Manmohan Adhikari Memorial Academy. Inaugurating the garden, Nepal said that the waste lands and river banks of the Kathmandu Valley could be better
utilised as green space and garden in memory of various distinguished personalities. — HNS
Girls arrested
MADHYAPUR THIMI: The District Police Office, Bhaktapur, has arrested ten adolescent girls on the charge of being allegedly involved in prostitution in four restaurants along the Araniko Highway section, on Friday evening. The police are reported to have raided more than six restaurants and arrested two hotel entrepreneurs. According to Police Inspector of the District Police Office Dharma Raj Sunar, investigation is being carried out about the girls and hotel entrepreneurs. Almost all the adolescents involved in prostitution are below 20, police said. — RSS
Award announced
KATHMANDU: The Bharati Kharel Memorial Award of 2063 BS is to be given to the Nepal Cancer Relief Society for its exemplary works in research and social service regarding cancer for the past 25 years. The decision was made by the meeting of the foundation chaired by Bharati Kharel Foundation Chairman Prof Jagannath Sharma Tripathy. The prize will be given on December 2 to mark the 69th birth anniversary of litterateur Bharati Kharel. The award carries a purse of Rs 51,000. — RSS

MADHYAPUR THIMI: CPN-UML leader Ishwor Pokhrel has said all the rights of the king including political, cultural and social, should be curtailed. Speaking at the first leading workers’ gathering of his party organised at Bhaktapur Multiple Campus on Friday, he said it should be decided whether to keep the king or not from referendum. The CPN-UML will not be ready to forge a front with the Maoists in any aspect until the Maoist weapons are there and urged the Maoists to discard weapons. — RSS
