The agitating teachers had organised programmes today as per their declaration that they would boycott all formal events organised by the Ministry of Education as part of their protest. The CNT members are going to various districts tomorrow to celebrate the day in their own way.
Keshav Niraula, president, CNT today said that they handed awards to students from community schools and institutional schools from three districts in the Valley — Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur — who had scored highest marks in the School Leaving Certificate exam-2014.
He said that they also feted some teachers with letters of appreciation for their contribution to the protest.
Last week, Nepal government had called the teachers for dialogue but they rejected the talks offer stating that the government talks team should include government officials from other concerned ministries too.
“We have been holding talks with MoE officials for a long time, but it has always failed to meet our demands stating that fulfilment of demands was beyond their capacity.

Therefore, we now want members from the concerned ministry such as Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Law and others in the talks team,” Niraula said, adding that they to organise a huge demonstration on September 13 against the government’s ignorance toward their demands.
Resignation of Education Minister Chitra Lekha Yadav, implementation of past agreements, guarantee of higher secondary level education to SLC graduates from technical and vocational stream and high priority to education in the upcoming constitution, among others, are some of the demands of agitating teachers.
