KATHMANDU: Minister for Agricultural Development Hari Prasad Parajuli has decided to resign from the ministerial post after he drew flak from various quarters, including the Parliament, for his alleged indecent behaviour in public.

During a programme organiHsed to mark the National Paddy Day at Mulpani, on the outskirts of Kathmandu, on Tuesday, Minister Parajuli apparently had tried to take sexual advances toward some women participants .

Some media had published photos and videos of his antics, in which he was seen pulling and trying to embrace women in the paddy field. He apparently tried to rub his head and kiss at least one of the women on her bosom.

It has been learned that Parajuli, who had been defending his behaviour, was forced to resign after the CPN-UML leadership threatened him to remove from the Cabinet if he did not step down on his own.

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli had summoned Parajuli at the former's residence yesterday evening.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and CPN-UML Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam had sought clarification from Parajuli.

Parajuli went to meet Prime Minister Sushil Koirala at the latter's official residence in Baluwatar this morning to tender the resignation.
