KATHMANDU, JULY 21
On the occasion of the first Monday of the Sawan month, all four gates of the Pashupatinath Temple were opened at 3 a.m. today to welcome devotees.
Arun Biset, an official from the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), shared that special arrangements have been made, anticipating a crowd of around 500,000 devotees visiting the holy shrine.
Mondays in the month of Sawan hold special significance for Hindus, who observe fasts and perform puja to Lord Shiva with deep reverence.
A large number of devotees began arriving at the temple early this morning, according to Biset.
The PADT has announced that tickets for special puja during the month of Sawan will not be issued for less than Rs 7,500.
Additionally, free meals are being offered to devotees by the Marwari Samaj at Pashupatinath, a service that will continue every Monday throughout the month.
To facilitate transportation, the PADT has also arranged a free bus service along the Ring Road every Monday for devotees heading to the temple.
