Alleged serial thieves land in police net

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested three persons on charge of theft from various  places of Capital on Sunday.

The arrestees have been identified as Jimmi Lama (22) from Langrache VDC-1 in Sindhupalchok, Tuku Lama (21) from Lepse VDC-9 of Sindhupalchok and Samir Shakya (24) from Bidur Municipality-4 of Nuwakot.

According to preliminary police investigation, the thieves entered the unattended rented room of Santosh Lama in Dhobikhola, Maitidevi, KMC-33 and stole a mobile phone and cash worth Rs 44,500 on July 29.

Similarly, the trio also stole mobile phones and cash worth Rs 215,000 from an unattended rented room of Moti Adhikari in Ghattekulo, KMC-32 on September 6 morning.

They  also entered the house of Jayadev Koirala in the same afternoon and stole property worth Rs 138,000.

Police have also confiscated various gold ornaments and a silver karuwa (traditional water vassel) and a Nokia mobile phone.

Further investigation is underway.
