Angry scribes hit out at FNJ
Kathmandu, January 11:
A group of 14 journalists today regretted the publication of a “nonsensical statement” by the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), accusing them of supporting the King’s February 1 takeover move and thereby going against the spirit of the journalists’ body of which they are the members.
Two weeks ago, the FNJ had sought a clarification from the group members as to why they had been supporting the King’s move by going against FNJ directives.
“The publicity directed against us by the FNJ has drawn our attention to the issue,” stated a press release issued here today by the group of 14 journalists.
The group said no amount of threats coming from those who make covert alliances to ignite conflict but contribute little to resolve the crisis would in any way deviate the sincere and dutiful journalists from their path of duty and commitment.
The group of 14 journalists also requested that the persons without “professional base” be given their due importance.
