ANNFSU announces fresh protests
Kathmandu, December 19:
The All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) today announced fresh protests against the delay in the appointment of key officials in Tribhuvan University and other universities.
Protesting the delay, the ANNFSU will stage a protest rally from the Ratna Rajya Multiple Campus tomorrow.
“Demanding immediate appointment of TU vice-chancellor, we will submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister and the chancellor of the TU, Girija Prasad Koirala, tomorrow,” the ANNFSU stated in a press conference today.
Thakur Gaire, the ANNFSU president, demanded that the government appoint TU V-C and other key officials of the universities at the earliest. He warned that the students would
be compelled to take to the streets if the appointments were not made at the earliest.
Balgopal Upadhyaya, an ANNFSU leader, urged the PM to sort out the issue of appointments by holding talks with the Maoists and other political parties. Upadhyaya urged the government “not to undermine the students’ strength.”
