ANNFSU bags all seats in Baneshwor Campus

Kathmandu, March 18:

An All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) panel headed by Nabina Lama won the Free Students’ Union (FSU) election at Baneswor Multiple Campus. The polling started at 7.30

am today and lasted for two-and-a-half hours and the counting started from noon. A total of 650 votes were cast out of 1200.

The students took out a victory rally from Baneshwor Multiple Campus which converged into a corner meet at Baneshwor Chowk. Addressing the corner meeting after the victory rally, Nabina Lama, the newly elected president, said she will always fight against autocracy.

“The new FSU team will work towards improving educational environment and physical infrastructure of the campus,” said Lama. She said she would fight for women’s rights and would encourage girls to participate in the movement against autocracy.

A joint panel of the Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) and NSU, the student wing of Nepal Congress-Democratic, had joined hands with National Democratic Students’ Union (NDSU) and Nepal Praja Prarishad (NPP) breaching the eight student union’s alliance to compete with the ANNFSU.

The 11-member joint panel included LB Karki of Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) as presidential candidate along with three members from NSU, vice president and joint secretary from NSU-D, secretary and a member from NPP and treasurer along with two members from NDSU.

The FSU election was postponed on February 28 after a group of students threw ballot boxes and clashed with another group.
