Anti-RCCC verdict bike rally held
Kathmandu, July 30:
The Nepal Students Union (NSU) affiliated to the Nepali Congress-Democratic organised a motorcycle rally this morning against the decision of the Royal Commission for Corruption Control (RCCC) to jail former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and NC-D central member Prakash Man Singh. The rally that began from Chabahil Chowk went through Old Baneshwor and ended at New Baneshwor. The rallying students, carrying photographs of Deuba and Singh with ‘Freedom’ written on those, chanted slogans against the unconstitutional decision and demanded Deuba and Singh’s release. They also requested civil society members and other students to take to the streets against the unconstitutional body’s decision. The students will be organising a chakka jam on August 4 and a protest rally in all campuses throughout the nation on August 6. The NSU also organised a torch rally from Maitidevi bridge to Maitidevi Chowk at 4.30 p.m. protesting the arrest of 13 student leaders who had raised their voice against autocracy. The student body demanded the immediate release of all the arrested students.
