APF, NID chiefs assume office

KATHMANDU: Home secretary Dr Govinda Kusum on Wednesday put the insignia to the newly appointed Inspector General of Armed Police Force Sanat Kumar Basnet and handed over the appointment letter of chief of National Investigation Department to Ashok Dev Bhatta amidst a function organised at the Home Ministry. Bhatta assumed office as the chief of NID today after receiving the appointment letter.

Born at Chhorambu VDC-7 of Khotang district, Basnet was transferred to APF from Nepali Army on February 21, 2002. He had enrolled in the Nepali Army on July 16, 1981.

Before stepping down from the PM’s post, the cabinet meeting led by PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal had appointed Basnet and Bhatta as the Inspector General of APF and chief of National Investigation Department respectively.
