Appeal for help for kidney patient
Kathmandu, April 2:
Several institutions including the doctors at Nepal Medical College Teaching Hospital have appealed to the government and all generous contributors for financial support for the treatment of Resham Thapa Magar, 18, an orphan suffering from kidney ailment.
Thapa is currently undergoing ‘maintenance haemodialysis’ at the hospital in Jorpati. He was admitted to the hospital on September 18. Doctors said Thapa’s monthly treatment costs were around Rs 18,000 excluding the cost of medicines and lab tests. “He is advised to undergo kidney transplantation as early as possible. The cost of kidney transplant is approximately Rs 800,000,” stated a statement issued by the doctors at the hospital. Syangja Higher Secondary School, District Administration Office, Syangja, Local Support Committee for Thapa’s Treatment and Nepal Magar Association issued the appeal.
The Local Support Committee was formed on November 27, 2008 in order to help collect donations for his treatment. All willing contributors can donate in Ac No 01637’SS at Garima Bikas Bank or Ac No 050000042423 at Bank of Kathmandu.
