Army given right to shoot

KATHMANDU: Minister for Defence Bhimsen Das Pradhan on Wednesday said the government had given right to the Nepali Army to open fire on anyone trying to obstruct Thursday’s provincial and parliamentary elections.

Speaking at an interaction held here in Kathmandu, Pradhan urged all voters of 45 districts to cast their votes without any fear, as the government had arranged proper security.

“The government wants maximum participation of voters,” said minister Pradhan, adding that the security agencies will provide security to all voters, candidates, election staff and national and international poll observers.
