Army officer’s wife shoots herself

Kathmandu, October 16:

Sangita Shah, 30, wife of Colonel Tara Chandra Shah, committed suicide early this afternoon at their house at Phulbarimarg, Koteshwor, police said.

According to the police, Sangita shot on her temple with a pistol. The colonel was on duty at the Nepali Army Headquarters when the incident occurred.

“Shah is learnt to have called his wife on her mobile six times.

As she did not receive any calls, Shah reached the house and saw her lying dead,” Dhak Bahadur Karki, Superintendent of Police at the Kathmandu District Police Office, said.

Tara Chandra had gone to the office after giving his wife some medicines for mental illness. “She had had a mental problem,” the police said. Her body has been sent to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for forensic test.
