Ayurveda entrepreneurs reject govt’s plea

Kathmandu, February 19:

Ayurveda dispensary entrepreneurs have turned down the government’s request to go through a two-month training aimed at regularising retail sales of ayurveda medicines for the first time.

Bishnu Simkhada, treasurer of Nepal Ayurveda Druggist Association (NADA), today said that they have decided to reject the government’s request to go through the two-month-long training.

“As all the entrepreneurs have enough knowledge and experience, we don’t need the the training,” he said.

He said the government’s approach has treated experienced entrepreneurs and fresh graduates in the same way. Dr Shankar Paudel, co-ordinator of NAMDC, said the training is an government’s attempt to bring the practice of dispensary under the international standard.

“As this is a matter of public health, we need to follow all the international guidelines. Entrepreneurs are courting excuse not to attend the training,” he added.
