KATHMANDU: Jailed Bangladeshi photojournalist Shahidul Alam was finally released from prison, after a hundred and eight days in captivity, on November 20. His release followed a recent decision by a high-court to grant him bail.
Dhaka High-Court had granted him bail on November 15.
Alam was detained by authorities and sent to jail on August 5 for his media interviews about student protests, apparently for ‘spreading false information’ against the government.
Although Alam has been released, he faces a maximum of 14 years in prison if convicted.
