Bhaktapur society contributes towards flood survivors

BHAKTAPUR: The Subhanagar Development Society of Suryavinayak Municipality-2 in Bhaktapur today, has contributed Rs 30,000 towards the flood survivors.

The Balkot-based society handed over the cash to the Municipality Deputy Mayor Juna Basnet amid a programme organised here today. The financial aid will go to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.

Addressing the programme, lawmaker Rameshower Dhungel, Deputy Mayor Basnet, Chancellor at the National Academy of Fine Arts Ragini Upadhyay among others stressed extending humanitarian assistance by cutting off frivolous spending by women on cosmetics and ornaments during the Teej festival.

The Society's advisors Dharmendra Jha and journalist Gopal Khanal said that the financial assistance provided was an effort to help flood survivors assuage their pain during the time of adversity.

As the monsoon is in full swing, rain-triggered floods have been causing havoc in various parts of the country.

Incidents of inundation have been reported in several places of Terai region in the country.
