Bijukchhe’s sermon on PLA’s fresh bid to swell its ranks

Bhaktapur, March 6:

Narayan Man Bijukchhe ‘Rohit’, the president of Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party, today said that fresh recruitment drive of the Maoists’ People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will lead the nation to another crisis.

Speaking at a function organised to mark the 43rd anniversary of Basu Higher Secondary School, Bijukchhe said that it was wrong time to create dispute between the two military forces. “The dispute between the two military forces is not a good sign. This will result in bad impact on the state and it can lead to mutiny,” he added.

Referring to the Supreme Court’s stay order against the recruitment in the Nepal Army, he said, “At a time when the NA has been ordered to suspend the recruitment drive, recruitment in PLA is questionable.” He also urged the political parties not to obstruct the constitution drafting process.

Bijukchhe expressed doubt over whether the PLA commanders would follow Maoist Supremo Prachanda’s instructions.

On five per cent education service tax imposed by the government on private schools, he said, “The government, on the one hand, says that education must be free and on the other hand, it is imposing tax on the private schools.”
